About Invisalign

  • An invisible way to straighten teeth!
  • Dr. Williams prescribes a series of clear removable aligners
  • Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks
  • Little by little, your teeth straighten to the final position prescribed by Dr. Williams
  • Every case is personalized using 3D computer technology
  • Invisalign can be more convenient and sanitary than traditional braces
  • The aligners are removable so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment
  • You also can brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene
  • Aligners are made through a combination of orthodontic expertise and 3D computer imaging technology
  • Invisalign is available for adults and teens with all of their teeth grown in.
  • We work with you to help you learn the process and understand what’s happening.
  • Aligners are more comfortable to wear because there is no metal to cause mouth irritation
  • You can also use the aligners as bleaching trays to whiten your teeth
  • Aligners can work like a nightguard for many patients who have clenching and grinding habits

How it works

Invisalign uses the latest 3D imaging and computer technology to create your customized aligners. First, we work with you here in our office to diagnose your treatment and determine what needs to be done. Then, we take impressions of your teeth. Next, we send your impressions and your customized treatment plan to Invisalign, and they use advanced computer technology to finely calibrate a sequence of aligners for you. Depending on the treatment plan we develop, this could mean as few as 10 or as many as 30 aligners.

You’ll wear each aligner for about two weeks, taking it out for eating, brushing, and flossing. As you replace each set of aligners with the next set, your teeth gradually move into the final alignment prescribed by the doctor. Office visits are required approximately every 10-12 weeks.

Invisalign is not for everyone, but Dr. Williams can determine if it is right for you. Dr. Williams has been specially trained and certified to evaluate your eligibility for treatment and develop a customized plan for your best result.

The choice between Invisalign and traditional braces is dependent on many factors, and we can help you make the right choice. Additionally, it can also very much be up to the individual’s personal preference. However, Invisalign can often be a better choice than traditional braces for some, due to the following benefits:

  1. They are less visible.
  2. They can be more comfortable.
  3. Your food options are less limited.
  4. They are easier to clean.
  5. No pokey wires.
  6. Less time at the dentist.
  7. No dental emergencies.

Well, Invisalign treatment can be taken by anyone who is looking for a virtually invisible solution for a straighter, happier, healthier smile!

Both teens and adults usually make the ideal candidates to begin Invisalign treatment. Younger teenagers and children do not always make good candidates for Invisalign because their teeth are still growing.

One of the biggest perks of Invisalign is that these are removable, so you can eat whatever food item you like without worrying about food pieces getting stuck or your brackets breaking.

However, there are some food items such as sugary beverages, chocolates, and candies that you should avoid while wearing Invisalign so that your aligners don’t end up becoming stained.

Invisalign treatment is often less painful than traditional braces. However, it can cause some degree of discomfort and mild pain as your teeth begin to shift into their final position

You can use some over-the-counter medicines as recommended or prescribed by your dentist to reduce swelling and inflammation that may occur in the gums or teeth.

This depends on various factors like age, case severity, teeth crowding, & other dental issues. Some non-complex cases take as little as six months, while others or severe cases can take up to 12 to 18 months.

To provide the most effective and timely results, you must wear aligners for at least 22 hours a day. This means, aside from eating, brushing, and flossing, you have to wear aligners even when you are sleeping. Don’t worry. You won’t even notice – you’ll be asleep!
